Come & enjoy the largest lake in New Mexico!

Rock Canyon Marina - Elephant Butte Lake, NM

Quick Facts

Elephant Butte Lake was created by a dam across the Rio Grande in 1916.  Truly a jewel in the desert, our lake is over 50 miles long with more than 300 miles of shoreline.  There are three developed marina's on the lake with water craft rentals, boating supplies, and restaurants.  Elephant Butte is named for a volcanic rock near the dam which resembles an elephant.  With over 36,000 surface acres of water surrounded by mountains, Elephant Butte is a recreational paradise!
